The New Orleans Saints honored legendary quarterback Drew Brees today. He was inducted into the New Orleans Saints Hall of Fame.
During a press conference for that, Brees addressed his brief broadcasting career. What did he say? Read below to find out.
Former New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees Wants to Return to Broadcasting

Drew Brees retired from the NFL following his 2020 season with the New Orleans Saints. Immediately after that season, Brees signed a contract with NBC to be a studio analyst for the Sunday Night Football broadcast. Along with this, he was able to be a color commentator for select games during the 2021 season.
However, his stint with NBC was brief, to say the least. The network chose to move on from Brees after just one season. Along with this, he was only able to be a commentator for a limited number of games during his stint with NBC.
Brees was only able to fill in as a commentator for two NFL games. He mainly served as a commentator for Notre Dame Fighting Irish college football games broadcast by NBC. Because of this, Brees wants to get another chance to broadcast football games properly:
“The thing that I wanted to do most that I could bring the most value at was broadcasting NFL games. And it was the thing I had the least opportunity to do… I would love to broadcast NFL games at some point… again… I think I could be the best at it.” -Drew Brees
Joe Buck Previously Endorsed Drew Brees

Days before Brees revealed this desire during a press conference, legendary play-by-play announcer Joe Buck believed that Drew Brees deserved another shot at broadcasting NFL games. Buck said that Brees did not get a good deal with NBC and did not have enough time to grow into his role.
“I think Drew Brees got a raw deal. If there’s anybody who was ever created in a computer to be a top analyst at a network, I think it’s Drew Brees and I would love to see him get another chance at that. He got one game, and he was working with a new crew and a new play-by-play guy and everybody expects brilliance. You make one comment, and it gets its own life on social media. It’s just ridiculous.” -Joe Buck
NBC Regretting Jason Garrett Over Drew Brees?
![BREAKING: Former New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees Demands Second Chance at Broadcasting Career 3 Jason Garrett](https://gridironheroics.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Jason-Garrett.webp)
After NBC moved on from Drew Brees, they signed Jason Garrett to bring alongside the Sunday Night Football crew. He is mainly a studio analyst for the broadcast but serves as a color commentator for select college football and NFL games.
However, some people believe this was a downgrade from Drew Brees. Garrett has been roasted by fans for his performance calling select games. It is fair to say he also does not have the best studio presence. Given NBC’s choices here, one could argue that the problem may be more with NBC rather than Brees himself.
