There has been one major issue that many previous New England Patriots legends have with the Apple TV+ series “The Dynasty.” While the documentary that covered the Patriots historic dynasty has received a lot of praise, many legends have had issues with the way that head coach Bill Belichick was portrayed in the series.
The series covers all the drama that went on during the best dynasty in NFL history, and it portrays Belichick in a negative way throughout the series. While Bill is not known as the warmest and kindest individual, it is insane to think that he was not absolutely fundamental in the success that occurred in New England over 20 years.
New England Patriots Legend Vince Wilfork Sounds Off
While there already have been numerous players to come out against the documentary’s portrayal of Belichick, now Vince Wilfork is sounding off on “The Dynasty.” Wilfork did not hesitate when speaking to USA Today about his thoughts on Belichick and the fact that he did not receive the credit he deserved in the series.
He then went on a long tangent to rave about his former coach and about how legendary Belichick is:
“I didn’t like the comments of how it went. I think Bill deserves a lot more credit than what was portrayed in there,” Wilfork said, via Patriots Wire. “So I just stay away from it. I’m going to tell you like I tell everybody else. Bill Belichick is the best head coach that ever coached the game of football. People can sit down and talk about Lombardi and Andy Reid and all of that good stuff, but let me tell you something: Lombardi didn’t have to deal with salary cap. And Bill did that with the salary cap and the way the game changed.
Vince Wilfork Thinks Bill Belichick Is The Best Ever
Wilfork continued to voice his support for his coach and express why, from his perspective, Belichick is the best coach to ever do it. Just because Tom Brady ended up winning a Super Bowl in his first year away from the team, the view on Belichick changed from clearly the best ever to just another great coach.
While there is for sure an argument to be made about a few different coaches for the best ever, the documentary did not give nearly the right amount respect and credit to Belichick.
“Andy Reid—I like Andy as a coach—but my thing is, I’m a Bill Belichick guy. He’s won it in New York, and what he’s done in New England, it speaks volumes. I’m going to always respect Bill, and I’m going to always be grateful of Bill Belichick for the career that I had and what he taught me on and off the field. I would tell anybody he’s the greatest coach of all time. Until somebody come and surpass him, that’s what it is.”
Belichick himself was very tight lipped about almost everything in the series, and he has not shared any of his thoughts about the series since it has come out. He has been very quiet this off season as he is now out of a job. Belichick may team up with Peyton Manning this off season for his year away from coaching football.
The New England Patriots on the other hand, are one of the worst teams in the NFL now and are looking to make a huge rebuild to get back to their winning ways.
