The New England Patriots have fallen drastically since their dynasty. They are projected to have the fewest wins in this next upcoming year, but Jerod Mayo it focused on rebuilding this team step by step. The biggest step is finding the franchise quarterback which the team thinks they can get in this years draft.
New England Patriots Have Two Big Names On Their Draft Board
The team is mainly looking at prospects Drake Maye and Jayden Daniels for their 3rd overall pick in the draft. It appears that one of them will be taken off the board by the Washington Commanders which would then leave the team with no decision to make and just get whoever is there at No. 3.
Per NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the team met with Maye on Friday for a proper pre draft visit and they are set to meet with Daniels on Monday.
“The Patriots are hosting North Carolina QB Drake Maye on a 30 visit tomorrow at Gillette Stadium, per sources. New England holds the third overall pick, and met with Maye at the combine, and again before his pro day in Chapel Hill,” Breer wrote.
The team seems to be focusing on these two prospects to select their next franchise quarterback.
Jayden Daniels Or Drake Maye
The New England Patriots would love to find their next Tom Brady, but they do not want to wait till the 6th round to get their guy, and they probably won’t. The Commanders selection will likely also decide who the Patriots will get as well.
Rapoport reported as well that the team will meet with Daniels on Monday for a proper pre draft visit as well.
“#LSU QB and Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels is set to meet with two of the top 3 teams in the NFL Draft. First up: He’ll head to New England on Monday to meet with the #Patriots, per his agent (Ron Butler),” Rapoport wrote.
While the team may still be thinking about J.J. McCarthy, they are only bringing in these two prospects for these proper visits. No matter what, their will be two quarterbacks selected before the Patriots pick, so they will likely get whoever they have on the board that is the best available in their mind, but will it be Drake Maye or Jayden Daniels as the next New England Patriots quarterback?
