The New England Patriots did not have the services of cornerback J.C. Jackson during Sunday’s 27-17 loss against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. The Pro Bowler’s sudden absence has been shrouded by mystery, especially considering the fact that he was initially listed as active for the Chiefs game.
New England Patriots’ J.C. Jackson Dealing With ‘Personal Matter’
Jackson was a late scratch for Sunday’s contest. He had an active roster spot, which meant that this ended up being wasted when he missed the game.
Karen Guregian of Mass Live reports that Jackson’s absence stems from an undisclosed personal matter:
“J.C. Jackson’s absence from Sunday’s game with Kansas City was the result of a ‘personal matter coming up,’ according to a source,” reported Guregian.
The drama just keeps on progressing for Jackson, who in case you forgot, was not included in the Pats‘ recent trip to Germany due to disciplinary reasons.
After the game, Pats head coach Bill Belichick, who himself is dealing with his own problems, was asked to shed some light on his star CB’s mysterious absence. The 71-year-old had a brief response:
“He wasn’t available,” Belichick said of Jackson following the game. “Just leave it at that.”
This obviously doesn’t clear anything up regarding Jackson’s status. If anything, you could say that it adds even more questions as to why the 28-year-old ended up missing the game as well as his availability for New England moving forward.
