The New England Patriots organization is looking to compete as Super Bowl contenders, sooner rather than later. It is known how much Robert Kraft does not like this recent spell of losing, and how he is looking to bring about the necessary change to get back to winning football. With stories of who’s more involved or who should be more hands-on, the New England Patriots may find that moving on from the longest-tenured head coach will not bring the desired results.
New England Patriots Head Coach Reveals His Usual Amount
Speaking on his weekly appearance on the Greg Hills Show, Head Coach Bill Belichick shared why he continues to go about his business the way that he does.
On a week-to-week basis, I don’t want to spend tome, or get caught up in what happened 5 years ago, or what’s going to happen 2 years from now, and a bunch of other random stuff. Just working on the Jets.
This is what speaks to why many New England Patriots fans want Coach Belichick to be brought back, despite two back-to-back losing seasons.
Many teams preach taking each day one at a time, for example, the sentiment from the cliche of getting one percent better every day comes to mind. But few act on this notion. Particularly during hard losing seasons. Decision-makers get panicky, coaches appease in an attempt to secure their position, and players can try to separate themselves from being the problem.
With Coach Belichick, this does not apply. Sure, you may disagree with his judgment, but he is making the moves that he feels are best for the New England Patriots.
New England Patriots Are ‘On To The Jets’
It is not just a mantra or a way to win the moment with reporters. This ‘next play’ mentality is truly how Coach Belichick approaches his day-in and day-out preparation.
Each week, get ready to go for that week, do the best you can to help your team win, and after that game move on to the next one. And at the end of the season, that’s the end of the season.
Getting caught up in playoff scenarios, or selecting future matchups as certain wins, that’s for the fans. But when a building is truly focused on the most immediate task at hand, that’s how a winning culture is developed.
What about long-term success?
That vision is for the head coach and general manager to map out. And then find ways to delegate and implement as needed. For the players, and everyday coaching staff, their efforts must be centralized and whoever the upcoming opponent is. And this is what the New England Patriots will miss if they let go of Coach Belichick.
New England Patriots Fans Wanting The Final Loss
Of course, it’s understandable why fans were cheering for the tankathon. A lower record means a higher draft pick. But that goes against the spirit of what being a part of a team is all about. Especially in a collision sport like football, asking players to jeopardize their health for an unproved college product is asking too much.
But for Coach Belichick, it goes a step further.
I’m committing to the team that I’m coaching right now, the players that are here. They deserve my best every day and that’s what I’m going to give them.
Winning is a result of a process. And while this year has resulted in many losses for the New England Patriots, the man who has won a total of eight Super Bowls is using the same consistent approach that resulted in wins.
