The Nebraska Cornhuskers have made some noise this offseason. The biggest move was flipping five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola from the Georgia Bulldogs but there have been many other moves that will help the team in 2024. Former Syracuse linebacker Stefon Thompson announced he is committing to the program giving the Cornhuskers a solid defensive piece.

Nebraska Cornhuskers Land LB Stefon Thompson
After suffering an injury that caused him to miss all of 2022, Thompson rebounded with a solid season. He had 52 tackles, four tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, and a forced fumble. The talented linebacker heads to Lincoln where head coach Matt Rhule showed some promise in his first season. Thompson had this to say in a statement.
“I want to express gratitude to the schools and coaches who contacted me and hosted visits. While I appreciate the interest from everyone, I’ve decided on Nebraska because it aligns perfectly with my academic and athletic goals. It’s the ideal fit for me and I look forward to contributing to Nebraska’s success. Having a coach who understands me and can help unlock my potential makes this choice even more exciting.”
2024 Outlook
Nebraska has no shortage of big games on their schedule in 2024. A non-conference matchup with the Colorado Buffaloes will be a high-profile matchup. In the Big Ten, they have to play Ohio State, UCLA, USC, Wisconsin, and Iowa. Those are tough games but the Cornhuskers are not the pushover they used to be. While they won’t be favored in these matchups, they shouldn’t be an easy win for the top teams.
It is a new era of Nebraska Cornhuskers football. The program is looking to return to its former glory and start competing for championships again.
