The Nebraska Cornhuskers are starting to turn some heads. After landing top quarterback prospect Dylan Raiola, head coach Matt Rhule has made it clear he is trying to return the program to its former glory. The program got a talented offensive piece Saturday when former Oregon running back Dante Dowdell committed to Nebraska.

Nebraska Cornhuskers Land RB Dante Dowdell
Dowdell didn’t see much action in 2023. Part of this was due to being behind many veteran backs but he also suffered a season-ending injury in the team’s fourth game. However, Dowdell has a lot of potential. The former four-star prospect is ranked as the no. 6 running back in the 2024 transfer class. Dowdell had this to say in a statement.
“I am committing to the University of Nebraska because it ultimately feels right to me. I feel that the running back coach Barthwell and coach Rhule have the best interest in me, the rich history of running backs throughout this school, their system fits the type of runner I am. I want to help restore the roar of this stadium.”
2024 Outlook
There are lots of tough road games in 2024. The Cornhuskers have to go to Ohio State, USC, and Iowa late in the season. This is on top of Colorado, UCLA, and Wisconsin coming to Lincoln. The Big Ten is now one of the toughest conferences in the country with the addition of many of the Pac-12’s elite. The good news is that Nebraska seems to be getting on par in terms of talent.
Can the Nebraska Cornhuskers make some noise in 2024? While there are tough games, there are also a lot of winnable games.
