The Minnesota Vikings will receive wideout help on Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons. Per their official Twitter account, the Vikings have activated wide receiver Jalen Nailor off the injured reserve (IR), and he will suit up in Week 9.
Nailor has been on the IR since the end of Week 2 with a hamstring injury. Minnesota has been among the best passing offenses in the NFL in 2023.
Minnesota Vikings Wide Receiver Jalen Nailor: NFL Profile
Jalen Nailor joined the Minnesota Vikings in 2022 as a sixth-round draft pick. He flashed as a rookie, catching just nine passes but going for 179 yards and a touchdown. His best performances came late in the year, with the six-foot wideout catching seven passes for 151 yards and a score during the team’s final two regular season games.
The Michigan State product played a lot of meaningful offensive snaps as a rookie but was nonexistent before landing on the IR in 2023. He played on just one offensive snaps during the team’s first two games, with rookie Jordan Addison and offseason signee Brandon Powell playing second fiddle to star Justin Jefferson.
Jalen Nailor: Expected Role in Week 9
Jalen Nailor could be thrust into the offensive game plan on Sunday with star wideout Justin Jefferson on the mend. The three-time Pro-Bowler sits on the injured reserve, with K.J. Osborn and Jordan Addison as the team’s top two receivers. However, Brandon Powell and rookie Triston Jackson are the only other wide receivers to draw a target this season. An injury to any Vikings’ receiver could open the door for Nailor earning snaps. Additionally, head coach Kevin O’Connell could place Nailor over Powell or Jackson in the pecking order. Nailor will also be a consistent presence on special teams in Week 9.
