The Pittsburgh Steelers have apparently been working the phone lines in earnest this offseason to try to land a pass catcher to pair alongside George Pickens for the upcoming season. The Seattle Seahawks have a wide receiver who has drawn their interest, and we’ll look at a trade proposal that could land the Steelers an All-Pro player.
The Steelers decided to blow up much of their offensive roster from last season at critical positions for the passing game. They needed to, as the Steelers ranked 28th in points per game (17.8) last season.
The Pittsburgh Steelers overhauled their offense for 2024
The Steelers traded away Kenny Pickett and let Mitch Trubisky and Mason Rudolph find new teams in free agency. They signed Russell Wilson and traded for Justin Fields. They boosted the offensive line in the draft, spending their first two picks on Troy Fautanu and Zach Frazier.
The Steelers lost a key wide receiver from last season when they traded Diontae Johnson to the Carolina Panthers. Pittsburgh drafted Michigan standout Roman Wilson in the third round. Still, they could use another veteran target to make the most of having an All-Pro like Russell Wilson play on the veteran minimum.
The Pittsburgh Steelers called the Seattle Seahawks for DK Metcalf
Per Benjamin Allbright with KOA, the Steelers called the San Francisco 49ers for Brandon Aiyuk and the Denver Broncos for Courtland Sutton. They also called the Seahawks for DK Metcalf. The Seahawks apparently didn’t shut down the idea, but they likely wouldn’t trade Metcalf until after June 1.
They called about Aiyuk and Sutton and have been rebuffed, at least with opening talks. Called about DK, I don't believe a trade would get done there until after june first (if one got done at all).

There has been smoke around Metcalf being traded from Seattle because of salary cap concerns. According to Over The Cap, the Seahawks have $1.6 million remaining in cap space for the upcoming season. They need money to sign their draft picks and have emergency cash for the season.
Here’s a potential trade proposal that could save the Seahawks some cash and allow the Steelers to create a much more potent passing attack for the 2024 season.
Trade proposal for Metcalf
Steelers receive
- DK Metcalf
- 2025 6th round pick
Seahawks receive
- 2025 second-round pick
- 2025 fifth-round pick (via Los Angeles Rams)
The Seahawks would likely want to receive around a first-round pick for Metcalf, but that seems like a non-starter since the Steelers would have to take on his salary. The Steelers should be playoff contenders, so their second-round pick would be expected to be later in the round. Swapping a fifth for a sixth-round pick would make the deal a little more intriguing for the Seahawks.
Metcalf on the Steelers would complete their overhaul for the 2024 season. If the defense holds up, the Steelers should have a team that can make a case to make a deep playoff run.

You’re foolish if you believe Seattle would trade DK and not get a 1st rounder, plus some middle round picks at least. I also highly doubt DK would want to play for with Wilson again, he’s washed.
You are an idiot to think we’d trade Metcalf for a second round pick being the prize and give them an extra pick as well🙉🤣
