The Michigan Wolverines, off the back of a National Championship win against the Washington Huskies, have faced a string of exits, predominantly through highly touted juniors and seniors declaring for the NFL Draft.
Now, two of the key reasons for the Wolverines’ first National Championship since 1997 (shared with Nebraska), and first time as sole National Champions since 1948, over three quarters of a century ago, have made their respective decisions as to whether to remain at school, or declare for the 2024 NFL Draft, per Field Yates and Underdog NFL.

What Does This Mean For The Michigan Wolverines
The so-called ‘winningest’ college football powerhouse will have to start their rebuild next year. Without start back Corum, quarterback McCarthy, who coach Jim Harbaugh recently called the greatest QB in the National Championship side’s illustrious history, alongside offensive lineman Zak Zinter and LaDarius Henderson, the Wolverines will no doubt be shorthanded come next season.
Moreover, the looming headlines concerning the very much uncertain future of coach Jim Harbaugh, who has been linked with a string of vacant NFL coaching jobs, puts the idea of long-lasting, Georgia or Alabama type enduring success at Michigan in the years to to come in doubt.
For now, though, Michigan fans will bask in the glory of the National Championship, and worry about the future of their team in the next five or ten years, another day.
Both JJ McCarthy and Blake Corum are projected to go reasonably high in the draft. Whilst McCarthy has an outside chance to go in round 1, a more reasonable expectation for him would be late round 2 to round 4. Corum, on the other hand, can expect his name to be called, barring any poor testing or character concerns, on day 2, in rounds 2-3.
