Michigan Wolverines Lose Talented Defensive Back To The Transfer Portal

The Michigan Wolverines haven’t lost many players since Jim Harbaugh left for the NFL. Sherrone Moore was hired, and the team mostly stayed intact. A few fringe players decided to leave, but the NFL Draft has taken more talent than the transfer portal. However, they could not stay immune forever. Defensive back Keon Sabb announced he is entering the transfer portal.

Michigan safety Keon Sabb has entered the transfer portal, @On3sports has learned.

The former top-100 prospect and four-star recruit had 28 tackles and two interceptions this season.

The former four-star recruit played in all 14 games this season for the Wolverines. For a reserve player, his stats were solid. He had 28 tackles, two interceptions, four pass breakups, and six passes defended. His decision likely stems from a lack of playing time. Sabb never became the full-time starter at Michigan and is trying to find a program where he can play more. This happens all the time in college football. He should be highly sought after in the transfer portal market.

    Window Is Closing

There isn’t much time for other players to decide whether to stay or go. Players get a 30-day transfer portal window when a coach leaves. So far, players have mostly decided to stay put. Sabb was the first player who saw significant field time to leave the program. If Michigan can keep its current roster intact, the transition to the new regime should be much easier.

Can Michigan make some noise in 2024? They have lots of questions on offense, but I wouldn’t count this team out next season.
