June was a rough month for the Michigan Wolverines in terms of recruiting. They look to put that month in the rear view mirror and they have taken the first step. Michigan lands 4 star recruit OL Amir Herring, the No. 4 player in the state of Michigan and No. 13 ranked interior lineman overall. They have been recruiting him since 2020 and he finally committed to the school. Let’s learn more about the latest Michigan Wolverines recruit.
Get To Know Amir Herring
Amir Herring is a 6-foot-3, 300 pound offensive lineman from West Bloomfield, Michigan. he played tackle in high school though experts say he will most likely move to the interior line at the next level. The good news about this for the Wolverines is his versatility in case of injury. He is a smart and technically sound player with great hands to stop defenders from getting to the QB. In the running game, he engages blocks well and has the athleticism to get to the second level to open up room for RBs. Michigan has always prided themselves in offensive lineman and Herring seems to fit right into the mold they like.
What’s Next For Michigan?
This is a great win for Michigan but there is still a lot of work to do. Before the commitment of Herring, the Wolverines had the no. 54 ranked class according to 247 sports. This is not great for a team that just came off of a College Football Playoff appearance and are fighting to get back in a conference that is becoming crowded with good teams. The end of this week will be big with the Wolverines expecting answers from many of their other recruits with many of them trending in the Wolverines direction. A haul of recruits in the first part of July would help the Wolverines forget about the month of June and have a bright future ahead of them.
