It was announced prior to Sunday’s game that Miami Dolphins’ star wide receiver Tyreek Hill had chose to sit on the sidelines, but it seemed to work out fine for the Dolphins as they blanked the New York Jets 30-0.
Miami Dolphins WR Injures Ankle
Hill injured his left ankle in pregame warmups six days ago in the Monday night loss against the Tennessee Titans.
The wide receiver did have tests performed on the severity of his injury, and even tested his ankle out before the game to see if he would sit out or not. Ultimately, the Dolphins gave Hill the final call and he sat out.
Hill’s agent Drew Rosenhaus provided additional information and background on what went into Hill’s final decision.
“I was involved throughout the week in talking to Tyreek and getting MRIs and discussing it with the various doctors that were involved and just giving my perspective to Tyreek,” Rosenhaus said. “But this was Tyreek’s decision. And I’m sure he weighed a lot of different options from his family to his coaches to the trainers to all the people that he works with. But ultimately it boiled down to Tyreek, and you have to respect Tyreek because he put, in my mind, the team ahead of his individual goals.”
Tyreek Hill’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, says that the @cheetah did get an MRI this week on his ankle. Ultimately, it was Tyreek’s decision to play or sit. Rosenhaus also added that with Hill missing this game, this can make him available for later games against ‘better teams’ or ‘playoff teams’.
“It was a really risky proposition. Definitely felt like Tyreek and the team made the right decision by not playing today,” Rosenhaus said. “In hindsight, looked like a great decision because the team won, and they won handily, and Tyreek was relieved. He was happy the team won.”
The Dolphins did just fine without Hill, eliminating the New York Jets from playoffs contention with a 30-0 victory at Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Miami’s Jaylen Waddle stepped up in place of Hill in a huge way, catching eight passes for 142 yards, including a 60-yard touchdown in the second quarter.
TUA TO WADDLE. 60-YARD TD.

Looking ahead, the Dolphins have three of their toughest games coming up against the Dallas Cowboys, Baltimore Ravens, and Buffalo Bills before even thinking about playoff games.
While Tyreek Hill is trying to become the first NFL player to gain 2,000 receiving yards in a season, he still has three more opportunities to try and achieve that. He currently sits at 1,542 receiving yards and needs 458 more to reach that milestone. In order to do that, he’s going to need to average of nearly 153 yards per game, and that’s if he ends up playing in all three games.
The status of Hill’s injury and whether or not he’ll be available for Week 16 is still up in the air, but the status probably won’t be revealed until later in the week or even on game day.
