The Miami Dolphins flopped badly against the Kansas City in Wild Card weekend. They barely had any offensive production the entire game besides for a huge play by Tyreek Hill. This is the third big game in a row that the Dolphins lost and looked terrible on offense. Going from a team that had a chance to the one seed to now being one and done in the playoffs.
This has caused many Miami fans to call for a change at quarterback and if your Mike McDaniel why wouldn’t you look to see if you can upgrade at that position instead of breaking the bank for Tua Tagavailoa. He has proven that he cannot win the big games and this Miami team is Super Bowl ready with the right player at quarterback.
The Dolphins should look for a quarterback in the draft or in free agency. While they do not have the bets pick in this years draft, they can still trade up or try to get Michael Penix Jr. in the later end of the first round. The much smarter move would be to trade for a productive quarterback, or get one through free agency.
The Miami Dolphins Should Go After Kirk Cousins
Kirk Cousins would be a great option and one much better than Tua to lead this team deeper into the playoffs or at least get one playoff win. It is at least worth McDaniel’s time to check in on if Kirk would be available this off season.
Cousins is set to become a free agent this off season, and the Dolphins should put their hand in the pile to upgrade at the quarterback position. While Cousins will be 36 next season, he was on pace for his best year before his injury. Aging quarterbacks have been able to have success in the modern NFL, and it would be a huge upgrade over Tua who seems to always play his worst games in the biggest spotlight.
Tua has not proven that he is deserving of a big contract and Miami has a limited time that there window will stay open for a deep playoff run. This was a year that the Buffalo Bills started 6-6 and still managed to win the AFC East. This was a year that all the stars were aligning and they managed to only put up 7 points in a one and done playoff exit.
If Miami Does not go for Kirk Cousins or draft a quarterback, they may be a one and done team for many years to come. Tyreek Hill is clearly their best offensive player, and while Tua had a great regular season against the bad teams of the league Miami needs an upgrade if they want to sniff a Super Bowl.
