The Kansas City Chiefs finally made a difficult decision on the fate of a former second-round pick they made at wide receiver. The Chiefs have a few big decisions to make at wide receiver before the start of training camp this summer.

The Kansas City Chiefs have made some improvements at WR

The Chiefs had one of the worst receiver corps last season, as they led the league in drops during the regular season. They added Marquise “Hollywood” Brown via free agency and Xavier Worthy in the draft’s first round. They still have to decide if Kadarius Toney will make the cut in training camp. Rashee Rice is practicing with the team, but he’s facing legal issues and a possible league suspension.

    Mecole Hardman rejoins the Chiefs

As discussed by John Galletley with GH, the Chiefs are bringing Mecole Hardman back for the 2024 season. Their 2019 second-round pick was a free agent this offseason. He was a hero in February’s Super Bowl:

According to Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team, the Kansas City Chiefs are getting set to re-sign WR Mecole Hardman. He has been on the Chiefs for the better part of five years. He also caught the game-winning touchdown pass in overtime to help secure Super Bowl LVIII for the Chiefs. Now, QB Patrick Mahomes will have a familiar face to throw the football to in 2024.

Hardman started the 2023 season with the New York Jets before the Chiefs traded for him mid-season. Hardman’s signing will give the Chiefs much-needed depth for a unit with several question marks before the start of the regular season. It wasn’t clear if the Chiefs were going to be able to have the resources to bring Hardman back, but they made the tough decision to get a deal done.

Chiefs fans were excited about the signing. Here are the best takes on Hardman rejoining the Chiefs.

dude caught a walk off super bowl TUD

    — Norwegian Ninja Turtle (@NorwegianTMNT) June 6, 2024

I was hopeful this would happen ….

    Yes sir!!
    Smart move!! 🏆🙏🏻

    — Robert Miller (@MillerLight19) June 6, 2024

Idk why everyone is so happy about this. He’s been super underwhelming. 1 big play doesn’t make him worth a roster spot.

    — RiddickIDPking (@RiddickIDPking) June 6, 2024

Idk we now have three undersized Receivers in Hollywood, Worthy and Mecole. With a Rive suspension we are missing some physical abilities

    — Goebelinho (@xi_ango) June 6, 2024

I mean if/when Rice is out for awhile, might as well have a guy that knows the playbook and Mahomes is comfortable with.

    — Trill Self (@Jaminrawk) June 6, 2024

I’m always ok with bringing back familiar faces

    — KyuStorm (@Kyulightning1) June 6, 2024

A lot of people are happy with this move and then there’s a lot of people that are upset with this move, but let’s face it. Last year everybody screwed up throughout the season and we still managed to win a Super Bowl. I think it’ll be alright, folks.
