The Baltimore Ravens had a sobering update Friday for a star player they hoped to have back against the Houston Texans in the Divisional Round. The Ravens have seen a few star players on offense suffer serious injuries this season.
The Baltimore Ravens have dealt with frustrating injuries
The Ravens signed running back Dalvin Cook to the 53-man roster this week. Cook will elevate a backfield that was weakened after J.K. Dobbins sustained an Achilles injury in Week 1. Tight end Mark Andrews suffered a cracked fibula and ankle ligament two months ago.
Per the Ravens website, head coach John Harbaugh said Thursday that the status of tight end Andrews was unknown for the Texans game. Andrews practiced this week, but it was unclear if the Ravens would activate him for the Texans game by Friday’s deadline:
The Ravens tight end, who suffered a major ankle injury on Nov. 16, was a full practice participant Wednesday and Thursday.
Head Coach John Harbaugh said Andrews’ status is “still up in the air.” Andrews is officially listed as questionable.
Andrews said Wednesday that he’ll play if he feels he can help the team. He would have to be activated off injured reserve Friday if he’s going to play.
Mark Andrews will not play on Saturday
According to Ian Rapoport with the NFL Network, the Ravens are not activating Andrews for Saturday’s game. The team hopes he can play in the AFC Championship Game should the Ravens defeat the Texans.
The #Ravens have activated WR Devin Duvernay and DB Ar'Darius Washington off IR and both should play against the #Texans. No activation for Mark Andrews. Next week.

Lamar Jackson has his work cut out for him against the Texans
MVP candidate Lamar Jackson will enter the playoffs without one of his best-passing targets. Jackson has been playing well in the previous two months despite not having Andrews available to throw to. But the Texans’ defense could make life difficult on the shorthanded Ravens.
