Everyone is aware of the love story between Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford and his wife Kelly. Their story is one that started in college and continued to flourish through his years with the Detroit Lions and the Rams.
They have a picture-perfect family, but there’s no such thing as perfection in any realistic love story. One particular incident related to their story was so controversial to the point that Stephen A. Smith used his platform to call out Kelly for her actions.
Due to the public backlash, the wife of the Super Bowl LVI winner had to make a public apology about the matter.
Kelly Stafford apologizes to Matthew Stafford’s college teammate over controversial comment
Mrs. Stafford made the questionable statement during her appearance on the Off the Vine podcast. She detailed how she first interacted with the future first-overall pick of the 2009 NFL Draft and how they eventually got together.
However, it was one incident where she claimed that she dated Stafford’s backup, former Georgia Bulldogs QB Joe Cox, to make him jealous that people found it unnecessarily petty.
Kelly then made a formal apology to Cox and his family, as reported by The Spun’s Chris Rosvoglou:
“To this beautiful fam… I am so sorry for the media storm that happened last week that made its way into your lives,” Kelly wrote. “You had ZERO involvement in what I spoke about and in fact, it was y’alls relationship in college that I looked up to and wanted for me and Matthew. You were the couple that everyone thinks Matthew and I was… y’all were the UGA QB and cheerlader that met and never let go. I love y’all.”
Will Matthew Stafford help the Los Angeles Rams win the Super Bowl this season?
There’s plenty of talk that Stafford may finally call it a career after the 2024 season, so Los Angeles Rams fans will be hoping that he’ll walk away a champion if he does.
His performance in 2023 suggests that he can still pull it off with Sean McVay. He completed 3965 passing yards for 24 touchdowns and 11 picks through 15 starts in 2023.
Hopefully, no major injuries will prevent him from helping the Rams win one more Lombardi this season.
