Schedules for the entirety of the NFL were released Wednesday and the grandeur of those schedule releases has taken on a life of its own.
Among the attention-grabbing schedule releases of mid-May, the Los Angeles Chargers used a small portion of theirs to take a shot at the recently controversial Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker.
Kansas City Chiefs K Harrison Butker became controversial for comments made during a commencement speech
Butkers controversial nature came about when he gave a politically charged commencement speech to the graduates of Benedictine College. He took a stance opposing Pride Month, women in the workplace, President Joe Biden and abortion. He specifically took aim at Biden’s COVID-19 policies as described in an article from the Associated Press.
“While COVID might have played a large role throughout your formative years, it is not unique,” he said. “The bad policies and poor leadership have negatively impacted major life issues. Things like abortion, IVF, surrogacy, euthanasia, as well as a growing support for the degenerate cultural values and media all stem from pervasiveness of disorder.”
He continued supporting the idea that a woman’s “most important title” should be a “homemaker.”
“I think it is you, the women, who have had the most diabolic lies told to you,” Butker said. “Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world, but I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world. I can tell you that my beautiful wife Isabelle would be the first to say her life truly started when she started living her vocation as a wife and as a mother.”
Many religious people have taken to social media to express their support for Butker and his speech. They argue that Butker’s speech was simply an act of faith and that he should not be persecuted or treated any differently for what he believes.
Listen to this amazing commencement speech by Harrison Butker 🔥
Our Catholic faith has always been counter-cultural… The world around us says we should keep our beliefs to ourselves whenever they go against the tyranny of diversity, equality and inclusion – pic.twitter.com/5azbgPrhUN

I just sat and watched 20 minutes, 35 seconds of the Harrison Butker commencement speech and all I can say is I now have a greater appreciation for the young man. He professed his faith, said the hard things, the uncomfortable things just as he said he’d do, unapologetically.

👏 Harrison Butker hits the nail on the head: You cannot be Catholic and pro murder of innocent babies. President Biden’s professed Catholic faith goes directly against the church’s teaching of upholding the value of EVERY. HUMAN. LIFE. https://t.co/ROGSfYUZkO

The recent schedule releases among the NFL included a Chargers release that was a spoof on “The Sims” video games, which are produced by Electronic Arts.

The franchise has sold almost 200 million copies worldwide, making it one of the best-selling video game franchises of all time. The Chargers utilized this extremely popular game to announce who they would be playing in the 2024 NFL season.

Part of the video involved the Kansas City Chiefs, who the Chargers will play twice as they are both members of the AFC West. When mentioning the Chiefs, the video shows Chiefs K Harrison Butker cooking and cleaning in a kitchen. One of the most viral aspects of Butker’s speech was the fact that he said women would be happier as “homemakers.”
