It was a heartbreaking Saturday morning for the entire football world, and especially for Oregon’s head coach, Dan Lanning, who had to wake to the horrible news that his former cornerback and current Minnesota Vikings player Khyree Jackson tragically passed away in a car accident on Friday night at 24 years old.
Former Oregon’s Star Cornerback Sadly Passes Away

Jackson spent one season in Oregon last year after transferring from Alabama, and while he was in Eugene, he played fantastic football. He finished in the coaches’ All-Pac-12 first team and the Associated Press All-Pac-12 first team, started all 12 games, and led the Ducks in interceptions and passes defenend.
The former college star had a bright future ahead of him and would be a star on Sundays in the NFL. Still, his life was taken way too soon, and his former college coach, Dan Lanning, took to social media to react to the sad news and state how great of a human Jackson was. Here is the statement made by the Ducks’ head coach.

RIP Khyree… Love you
at a loss for words. I will miss your smile. Great player better person.

Jackson left an impact on many people’s lives, and even though Lanning only coached Jackson up for one year, you can tell by his reaction how great of a young man he was.
Oregon football also released a statement on Jackon’s passing and stated.
We mourn the loss of Khyree Jackson and all of those lost in this tragic accident. We are thinking of Khyree’s family, friends, and teammates during this difficult time, and he will forever be in our hearts. Rest in peace, Khyree.
This is one heartbreaking story, and prayers go out to Jackson, his family, and everyone involved.
