When healthy, Los Angeles Chargers defensive end Joey Bosa is one of the best in the business. But staying healthy has been a major issue for the former No. 3 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. Over the last two seasons, Bosa has played in only 14 games, during which he managed to collect 9,0 sacks and 22 solo tackles.

Bosa’s frequent injury issues are viewed by many, including Bleacher Report’s Gary Davenport as a major red flag that will likely prevent teams from making a serious attempt at trading for the former Ohio State Buckeyes star.
The sticking point here would be compensation. Normally, an elite edge-rusher in the prime of his career would fetch a significant haul of players and/or draft picks. But Bosa has missed at least four games in four of the past six seasons. If the best ability is availability, then Bosa’s lack of it can only drive down what teams are willing to give for the eight-year veteran—potentially to the point that it’s no longer worth it for the Chargers to move him.
That he carries a huge cap hit in 2024 and 2025 doesn’t help his trade stock. The Los Angeles Chargers edge rusher has a cap hit of $36.61 million in 2024 and $32.97 million in 2024.
So far, it doesn’t look as though the Los Angeles Chargers are willing to move him. Bosa is still just 28 years old and will only be 29 when the 2024 NFL season comes around. The Chargers can still get immense production from Bosa in 2024 when he could have a huge bounce-back season and return to his Pro Bowl form. Bosa has four Pro Bowl nods in his career, including three consecutive ones from 2019 to 2021 — the last time he played in more than nine games in a season.
