The Los Angeles Chargers experienced one of their more disappointing seasons to date due to the complete inexperience of previous head coach Brandon Staley. Even with elite pieces on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball, Los Angeles struggled to end the season at a 5-12 record. While that may not have been horrible given the plethora of injuries incurred on both the offensive and defensive units, it is not acceptable given the talent. After all, Miami suffered far more injuries and still managed to squeak out a playoff run.
Chargers to Bring in Elite Michigan Coach for Interview
With how much talent is on the roster for Los Angeles, this is one of the most appealing head coaching jobs available in the NFL this offseason. With elite quarterback Justin Herbert as well as top quality pass rushers Joey Bosa and Khalil Mack, this team won’t be difficult to transform into a playoff caliber juggernaut. A head coach would also be privy to the fifth overall pick in the 2024 Draft and will have choice talent to pick from. With all of those benefits, Los Angeles is receiving calls from a long slew of qualified candidates.
With all of that talent, Los Angeles has managed to bring in College Football’s National Champion of this past season in Michigan Head Coach Jim Harbaugh. Harbaugh has been considered one of the most talented head coaches after he lead Michigan back to a national championship after taking the job in 2015. Prior to that, he built the San Francisco 49ers back up into a national powerhouse by completely changing the culture including a Super Bowl berth in the 2012 season.
Jim Harbaugh will be in Los Angeles today to meet with the #Chargers about their head coaching job, per sources.

Since he hails from the west coast, Harbaugh would almost just be returning home by accepting the NFL Top Position with Los Angeles. Given that Harbaugh has a proclivity toward quarterbacks, he might finally be the one to tap into Herbert’s massive potential. That being said, Harbaugh still has his negatives that the team must consider.
Although the Michigan team has appeared dominant, Harbaugh has struggled through a scandal ridden season as his team has suffered a similar scandal to the New England Patriots spygate event. Harbaugh was suspended for most of the beginning of the season and will have that major asterisk. That could also be a major incentive for him to get out of college football as the investigation into him hasn’t closed and he could be facing a long term suspension from the NCAA.
Harbaugh would be the optimal choice for Head Coach for Los Angeles as he has a clearly proven track record and his drama will most likely be irrelevant away from the collegiate game.
