Leonard Floyd was one of the top remaining names on the free agent market until this week. He signed a one-year deal with the Buffalo Bills and will join a defense that has excelled in the regular season but struggled in the postseason. In a recent interview, Floyd said that the decision was easy on where to sign.
Leonard Floyd On Why He Signed With The Buffalo Bills
Floyd took a cheaper deal to sign with Buffalo. He probably could have gotten more from another team but his motivations are clear.
“It’s simple,” Floyd said. “I want to win. I want to win the Super Bowl. I’m examining teams, looking at their rosters, and the Bills are the best. I just felt like if I come here I can help the team get there.”
Floyd already has a Super Bowl victory under his belt and now is looking to add another ring to his finger. It isn’t uncommon for players like Floyd to try and chase another ring. He is hoping that he can help the Bills break through the AFC.
Will The Bills Be Able To Come Out Of The AFC?
The AFC conference is tough this year. There are eight to ten teams that all have playoff aspirations and only seven spots. The AFC East itself is going to be a battle. The Patriots are always a tough out regardless of the year. The Dolphins have an explosive offense and the Jets are riding high now that Aaron Rodgers is at the helm of the offense. This doesn’t even mention the Chiefs, Chargers, Ravens, Bengals, and Jaguars who are looking to make it back to the postseason. The Bills have to be happy they have Floyd in the building as they will need to stop some high-profile offenses.
Leonard Floyd will definitely help the Buffalo Bills. After Von Miller went down with an injury, the pass rush lost its teeth. Floyd will help that but the Bills will still need a monster season from Josh Allen in order to make it to a Super Bowl.
