Las Vegas Raiders All-Pro pass rusher Maxx Crosby couldn’t hide his disappointment on Sunday afternoon.
While Crosby couldn’t have been thrilled about the outcome, a shocking 36-22 dismantling at the hands of the previously winless and largely hapless Carolina Panthers with backup Andy Dalton at the helm, Week 3 added injury to insult for the Raiders’ star.
After being limited to just three total tackles, Crosby revealed after the game that the injury that knocked him from the contest is in fact a high-ankle sprain.
“It’s a high ankle [sprain],” Crosby told reporters after Sunday’s game. “It’s sh—y, but I’ll be good. I’ll be better. It sucks. It’s unfortunate. I mean I hurt it literally the second to last play in Baltimore. Just part of the game, you know. Every time I go out there I’m going to try and be out there with my teammates. If I’m 100% or 50%, it doesn’t affect if I’m going to go out there.”
How Long Will Las Vegas Raiders All-Pro Maxx Crosby be Out?
Crosby’s vow to be on the field is certainly commendable, but it bears monitoring whether he’ll actually miss significant time, or any time at all.
While every injury and player is different, high-ankle sprains can stretch to four-to-six week injuries which would be suboptimal for Crosby and the Raiders, who look to rebound from Sunday’s disastrous loss.
Through three games, Crosby already has produced three sacks and 14 total tackles as a game-wrecker along the Raiders’ front-seven.
Time will tell when he’ll be able to collect his next sack as he navigates this latest injury.
