After their embarrassing 36-22 loss to the Carolina Panthers, Las Vegas Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce sounded off on his team during the postgame press conference. Pierce, clearly upset with the lackluster play, pointed out that some members of the Raiders made “business decisions” during the game and hinted that the team would take a similar approach moving forward.
“I think as the game went on—I don’t think it was the team—I think there were definitely some individuals that made business decisions. And we’ll make business decisions going forward, as well,” Pierce said.
While Pierce said he didn’t think it was the entire team, it appeared, particularly on the defensive side, that some players took plays off and weren’t hustling at times.
Las Vegas Raiders Fall Flat Against Panthers
The Raiders faced a Panthers team that benched their underwhelming former No. 1 overall pick Bryce Young earlier in the week in favor of veteran Andy Dalton.
What figured to be an easy win for the Raiders against the NFL’s punching bag turned into a disappointing day for Raiders fans. Instead of capitalizing on the Panthers’ struggles, the Raiders delivered a lackluster performance that left fans frustrated and searching for answers.
The Raider defense never showed up getting torched for 437 yards and allowing the Panther’s offense to score four touchdowns while the offense put up 331 yards and three touchdowns they could just not keep up with the Panther’s offensive onslaught, losing the turnover battle 1-0.
The Raiders will look to bounce back next Sunday, Sept. 29, as they host the Cleveland Browns. The Browns are also coming off a tough loss, having fallen to the New York Giants, 21-15, on Sunday.
