Last Sunday, the Las Vegas Raiders opened the 2024 regular season with a disheartening 22-10 road loss against the Los Angeles Chargers. Las Vegas labored in the defeat, with their frustration hitting its peak following a Los Angeles touchdown late in the fourth quarter.

With less than four minutes left in the final frame, wideout Ladd McConkey juked out multiple Raiders defenders as he broke the endzone for a ten-yard touchdown. No love was lost between the division rivals, with a fight between the two teams occurring post-touchdown. On Saturday, the NFL announced fines for both squads, with three Las Vegas Raiders getting handed hefty monetary penalties.

According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero:

The NFL fined #Chargers WR Josh Palmer $11,255 and #Raiders CB Jack Jones $5,472 for their roles in a fight last week. Both were ejected. Maxx Crosby ($11,255) and Marcus Epps ($11,817) were also fined for their roles in the melee.

Following a Ladd McConkey touchdown in the fourth quarter, Las Vegas Raiders cornerback Jack Jones started a brawl with McConkey’s teammates. Superstar pass-rusher Maxx Crosby joined the scuffle, tossing Los Angeles Chargers second-year wideout Quentin Johnston to the ground, resulting in more pushing and shoving from both parties. Fellow defender Marcus Epps, who started the brawl, played a significant role in the disruption.

The NFL answered the fight accordingly, fining Jones, Crosby, and Epps. Epps and Crosby will each need to pay fines north of five figures, while the league handed Jones a $5,472 monetary penalty. As for the Los Angeles Chargers, wideout Josh Palmer is on the hook for $11,255. The two AFC West teams will play again in late January during the league’s final week.
