The Los Angeles Chargers are smiling in their new era of Jim Harbaugh as they started the year with a win against the Las Vegas Raiders. This is something to expect of Harbaugh’s teams, however, as he is now 5-0 in the NFL in season openers. That itself is an incredible stat but the Harbaugh and the Chargers have much bigger goals in mind.
Los Angeles Chargers Head Coach Incredible Praise For Maxx Crosby
Jim Harbaugh went on the Colin Cowherd show on Monday to talk about week 1 and getting his first win of the season back in the NFL.
While they spoke about many different things in regards to their week 1 and the phenomenal rushing attack, Harbaugh took the time out to give Raiders elite defender Maxx Crosby some incredible praise. He not only highlighted how great of a player Crosby is, but he also highlighted why Crosby has all of the respect in the world for the way he plays.
It all started with Harbaugh explaining just how good their new offensive lineman Joe Alt is, who had to block Crosby in his first professional game. After praising Alt, who will clearly be one of the best in the business in no time, Harbaugh spoke at length about a very special trait of Crosby, who he called one of the best ever:
“He is an incredible player, I have tremendous respect for him. There is a play in the game… (Joe Alt) He did an incredible job against one of the best defensive edge rushers (Crosby) in the history of the game.”
“One thing about Maxx, I just want to point out, there’s a clip early in the game, where Maxx Crosby goes to tackle, I think it’s Gus Edwards, and it just would have been a classic hip-drop tackle from the past years before they made it illegal and Maxx Crosby made that tackle without hip-dropping, got Gus for a gain of like 0 or 1 yard, but just more respect for Maxx Crosby.”
“He’s a class guy, who’s a great football player, and adapting to the rules that make the game sfaer for everybody. I just thought I’d point that out.”
Here is the full conversation between them:
Crosby is everything that Harbaugh said, and good for the head coach to take his time to give that the respect it deserves. We talk all the time about making the game safer and Crosby is a prime example of an excellent player taking the steps to do that, and dominating the game anyway.
The Chargers will look to build on their week 1 win, and the new era in Los Angeles.
