Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins will hit the open market this offseason, making him one of the most sought-after players in free agency in 2024. There are a few teams that can benefit from signing Cousins, however, according to NFL analyst Darren Wolfson, an NFC South team would make the most sense and is the most likely destination for the veteran quarterback at this time.

Atlanta Falcons Rumors
According to Wolfson, the Atlanta Falcons are a team to keep an eye on during free agency to heavily pursue Cousins. While other teams are in the mix to go after Cousins, the Falcons are viewed as the most logical landing spot for the veteran quarterback if he does not stay in Minnesota. This would shake up the NFC South division, and possibly help Atlanta finally win the division crown in 2024.
Cousins was having his best career season in 2023, going for 2,331 passing yards and 18 touchdowns through just eight games. However, the quarterback suffered a torn Achilles in the matchup against the Green Bay Packers back in October, abruptly ending his memorable season. Since then, several rumors suggest that Cousins will not remain with the Vikings next season, which has led to lots of trade speculation.
Is Kirk Cousins Too Much Of A Risk?
While this could be the move to put Atlanta back on the map, there are some risks they will be taking if they decide to sign Cousins. It would mean that the team would most likely have to get rid of their current quarterback Desmond Ridder, and some other key pieces on the team. Cousins will turn 36 years old in August later this year and is quickly getting to the age where most players start thinking about retirement, so his time with the Falcons would most likely be limited to just a couple of years.
Atlanta has not been a dominant team in the league since their Super Bowl run back in the 2016-2017 season. Having a veteran presence under center like Cousins could help them get back to that point, but the team would have to quickly build around him if they decide to bring him aboard. While this remains just a rumor, we could see the Falcons heavily pursue Cousins this offseason and shake up the NFL world.
