Former Super Bowl champion and Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman ranked Keenan Allen as a top three wide receiver on the I Am Athlete Podcast.
Edelman ranked Davante Adams as the best wide receiver, followed by Keenan Allen and Cooper Kupp.
Edelman’s rankings got a reaction from Allen via Twitter:
Big bro got em salty with this one 🤣😂… @Edelman11 🤙🏽✊🏽 https://t.co/SbmCsXwf83

Keenan Allen’s 2021-2022 Season
As many know, Keenan Allen, for many years, has been one of the most underrated wide receivers in the league. Last season, Allen was targeted 157 times. He finished the season with 106 receptions for 1,138 yards and six touchdowns.
Edelman’s Reasoning For Picking Allen As a Top-Tier Wide Receiver
Edelman went into more detail to explain why he ranked Allen as the second-best wide receiver in the league:
“I love Keenan Allen because his release game. I would always watch his releases. He has that crossover release. And then at the top of his route, there’s a lot of basketball-type s***. It’s like a crossover at the line of scrimmage. Foot fire. And they can get guys going and get them out of bounds and split their hips, he does that real well. He’s always not coverable.”
The three wide receivers that Edelman mentioned are all great route runners. Allen is one of the best route runners in the league. Although Allen isn’t as quick as Tyreek Hill or Ja’Marr Chase, he knows how to lose a defender and make the quarterback’s job easier.
