Per Cleveland.com, Kareem Hunt wants to stay with the Browns long-term.
Hunt was clear about how much he wanted to stay with the team, going on to say this to reporters:
“Right now, I’m just taking it day by day, man. I’d love to finish my career here and just keep playing the game with Chubb longer and with the great guys on this great team.”
Hunt also said that he would like to finish his career with his hometown team.
“I really don’t know what to think right now. I’m just trying to go out there and show them I’m healthy, show them I’m ready to ball out for them as long as they want me to, so I’d love to be here for a long time.”
Could Kareem Hunt get an Extension?
The only problem with what Kareem Hunt wants is that it may not be possible for an extension to be done.
The reason it may be difficult is because how much depth the Browns have a running back. The Browns have already given Nick Chubb a three year extension and they have also used many draft picks for that position.
It’s also a possibility the Browns don’t want to give Hunt a larger deal. Instead, they could give D’Ernest Johnson an extension on a smaller deal, who has proved himself as a very good running back.
Another reason it may not happen is because other players will hit free agency next year.
With people like Jadeveon Clowney, Greedy Williams, and Anthony Walker Jr. hitting free agency, they may want to spend money on other positions.
So Should We Expect an Extension?
It’s a possibility, but you shouldn’t count on it. On the surface it seems like a good idea, but it seems illogical. Many other players are hitting free agency and it would be wiser to spend some money on the positions they really need.
