The Kansas City Chiefs, by most accounts, had a pretty solid 2025 NFL Draft. They addressed the positions of need that they had with quality prospects who can, hopefully, help the team maintain its standing as perennial Super Bowl contenders.

But the Chiefs’ draft, and the drafts of many other NFL teams, was overshadowed by the slide of Shedeur Sanders. Prior to the annual event, many experts predicted that the former Colorado Buffaloes star quarterback would be a top-ten pick. However, he infamously slid all the way to the fifth round, finally being selected by the Cleveland Browns.

Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, a native of Ohio, grew up a Browns fan and had some pretty strong words for the slanderous reports that supposedly caused Sanders’ slide.

As previously mentioned, there were many who believed that Sanders should have been a top-ten draft pick, and some even thought he should have been drafted first overall instead of Cam Ward (by the Tennessee Titans).

However, pre-draft buzz had a detrimental effect on Sanders’ reputation and standing among NFL teams. A report by NFL Network cited two anonymous sources, who said:

“One longtime NFL assistant coach said his time with Sanders was ‘the worst formal interview I’ve ever been in in my life. He’s so entitled. He takes unnecessary sacks. He never plays on time. He has horrible body language. He blames teammates. … But the biggest thing is, he’s not that good.’ Said one longtime AFC executive: ‘It didn’t go great in our interview. He wants to dictate what he’s going to do and what’s best for him. He makes you feel small.’

“Even some of Sanders’ fans expressed disappointment he didn’t take a bigger step forward as a senior. ‘I liked him the year before,’ an NFC GM said. ‘They did change coordinators. It just felt different. It felt less athletic, less arm talent — everything felt less. If you’re talking about this year’s tape versus (Jaxson) Dart and Shedeur, I don’t think it was particularly close.'”

While there were obviously many who agreed with these statements, as evident by Sanders’ slide in the draft, there are many who do not believe them and would like the anonymous sources to come forward and stand behind what they said.

    Kelce is one of them.

During his most recent episode of “New Heights,” the podcast he hosts with his brother, Jason Kelce, the Kansas City tight end went on an expletive-laden rant calling on the anonymous sources to spout their opinions with their chest in a public forum:

“I think whoever’s the f—ing anonymous person that’s f—ing saying this should f—ing come out and say who they were. Like, what the f— is that about?

“Like, if you’re going to f—ing leak that type of s—, f—ing be the one that says, ‘Yeah, it just didn’t go well for us.’ Don’t f—ing say that we’re anonymous, ya know? That’s so f—ing lame. I just feel like there’s no validity to it.”

Kelce then went on to say that he believes Sanders has the ability to not only make the Browns roster, but to become their starting quarterback. And, as a Browns fan deep down, that is something he says he is excited about.
