The Kansas City Chiefs took down the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday in the AFC Championship game to advance to the Super Bowl and will go against the San Francisco 49ers. While some key pieces did not play like wide receiver Kadarius Toney and offensive lineman Joe Thuney, the team was still able to take down the number-one team in the AFC. However, the Chiefs got some unfortunate news today regarding one of their star players who will not be able to play in the Super Bowl.
Kansas City Chiefs Star Tore ACL
Kansas City star Charles Omenihu injured his knee in the first half of Sunday’s game after recording a sack for a fumble. He was ruled out for the rest of the game after halftime, putting his status for the rest of the season in jeopardy. Now, it has been revealed that Omenihu tore his ACL in the game against the Ravens, which will end his season and prevent him from participating in the Super Bowl in Las Vegas.

Charles Omenihu Career
Omenihu has amounted to 28 tackles, two forced fumbles, and seven sacks in 2023 including this postseason. He is in his first season with the Chiefs after coming over from the 49ers, where he spent two years (2021-2022). He was drafted back in 2019 by the Houston Texans, where he played for the first three years of his career. During his time in the NFL, Omenihu has recorded 95 tackles and 18.5 sacks, making him a threat to any opposing offenses.
Will Kansas City’s Defense Feel Omenihu’s Absence?
The Chiefs will be playing in their fourth Super Bowl in five years, and are looking to win consecutive world championships for the first time in franchise history. While the team will be without Omenihu and possibly some other key players, the team looks like they are playing their best football of the year, and look like they are unstoppable. Do you think the injury to Omenihu will bring struggles to the Kansas City defense, or will they continue to play at a high level and lead their team to victory?
