The Kansas City Chiefs are looking to defend their Super Bowl title. Any team that has Patrick Mahomes as the quarterback is going to have a chance but repeating is difficult. The offense lost JuJu Smith-Schuster and Mecole Hardman in free agency and has been looking to replenish the talent. The Chiefs signed wide receiver Richie James today, who spent last year with the New York Giants.

The #Chiefs have agreed to terms with WR Richie James, source says. After a breakout season with the #Giants (57 catches for 569 yards and 4 TDs), James becomes a target for Patrick Mahomes in Kansas City.

Kansas City Chiefs Sign Richie James

James had a breakout season last year. He was a seventh-round pick by the San Francisco 49ers before making his way to the Giants. Because of the number of injuries the Giants had at the wide receiver position, James got his chance and made the most of it. He caught 57 passes for 569 yards and four scores. And that was with Daniel Jones as his quarterback. He now joins a team that has one of the most prolific offenses in the league.

    Not Doubting The Chiefs

It is easy to look at this signing and some of the others and think the Chiefs’ offense looks a little weak. While I am not wild about their wide receiver room, after last season, I am not going to doubt Mahomes and Andy Reid. Many thought that after losing Tyreek Hill, the offense would take a step back but it did not. Travis Kelce was still a force and Reid often put his players in positions to make plays. With what Richie James showed last season, it is exciting to think about what he could do in the Chiefs’ offense.

The Kansas City Chiefs know how to get the most out of their talent. The Richie James signing is another cheap and smart signing that will hopefully pay off for the Chiefs in 2023. Will he be able to build upon last year? He could not have picked a better offense to do it in.
