Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs are coming off a Super Bowl winning season. In the first couple of weeks of free agency, they have lost some key offensive pieces from last year. JuJu Smith-Schuster left for the New England Patriots and Mecole Hardman took a one-year deal with the New York Jets. With these losses, Reid called for second-year receiver Skyy Moore to “step up”.
Andy Reid On Skyy Moore
Moore was selected in the second round of last year’s draft out of Western Michigan. He saw the field quite a lot for the Chiefs but in a limited capacity. He played in all 16 games but only amassed 250 receiving yards and did not have a score. He did have a score in the playoffs but also was used in a limited capacity. With Smith-Schuster and Hardman leaving, Andy Reid had this to say about Moore.
“We are expecting Skyy Moore to step up. We’ll just see how everything else works. We got the same guys coming back that we had, and we like that group with the exception of JuJu. Mecole was banged up a little bit so he didn’t have a chance to play as much as he would have wanted. We’ll work out the thing without JuJu. Somebody will have to step up and take that spot.”
Confident The Kansas City Chiefs Will Figure It Out
Last season, the Chiefs lost Tyreek Hill and the NFL community wondered what the offense would look like. Turns out that when you have Patrick Mahomes, your offense is fine. Reid is also one of the most brilliant offensive minds. However, Moore will have to step up his game. The team drafted him highly which signals they think he can be a good receiver in the league. If Moore struggles next year, the Chiefs’ offense could take a step back even with Mahomes.
The Chiefs will defend their title once again. The AFC is a tough conference and the coaching staff already knows that they will have their work cut out for them.
