It looks like Patrick Mahomes is really determined to beat the San Francisco 49ers and win Super Bowl 58. And if the latest reports are to be believed, the Niners should be wary of the Kansas City Chiefs superstar quarterback.
Patrick Mahomes At His Best Ahead of Super Bowl 58
According to a report from Jeff Darlington of ESPN, the Chiefs quarterback has been doing really well in practices in the build-up to Super Bowl 58. Mahomes was said to be “more dialed in than usual,” raising hopes up that he will be able to dominate against the 49ers.
“The Chiefs will be putting final touches on their preparations today with a walk-through at the Raiders’ facility. They’ll also have final meetings and a team picture,” Darlington wrote earlier on Saturday, a day before the Super Bowl showdown at Allegiant Staidum.
“All I keep hearing… Mahomes looks even more dialed in than usual this week. If he plays like he practiced…”
This is certainly good news for the Chiefs, especially since they are considered as slight underdogs in the game. And against a star-studded 49ers lineup, they would really need Mahomes to be at his best or even better in order to take their rivals down.
Kansas City Chiefs Are Super Bowl 58 Underdogs
As mentioned, the Kansas City Chiefs have been labeled as underdogs against the San Francisco 49ers. However, Patrick Mahomes and many others are not really focusing too much on the said narrative.
In fact, the Chiefs QB noted that the underdog narrative may have been overplayed by the media, noting that it’s already the Super Bowl. Mahomes argued that it’s normal in a game to have an underdog, but that doesn’t mean the underdog isn’t a good team, especially on this stage when there are only two teams remaining.
“The underdog thing, especially at this moment, I think is a little bit overplayed,” Mahomes said recently, via NBC Sports.
“We’re two great football teams going up against each other. Someone’s got to be the underdog, and they’ve been a great football team all yearlong. So, they deserve to be the favorite in this game.”
Sure enough at the end of the day, while some experts and the odds don’t favor them, Mahomes see them as mere opinions and numbers that don’t really impact them. Besides, Kansas City has been underdogs for much of the playoffs but was still able to make it all the way to the Super Bowl.
That’s pretty telling of what they are capable of.
