Earlier this month, it was reported that the Kansas City Chiefs, despite losing Super Bowl LIX to the Philadelphia Eagles earlier this year, will get an invitation to the White House to meet and visit with President Donald Trump.

According to President Trump, he is inviting Kansas City because they were unable to come after they won the Super Bowl in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. “I look forward to having the (Philadelphia) Eagles (for winning Super Bowl LIX in February), the President said. “And one other thing, we’re going to have the Kansas City Chiefs after that, because they missed their turn because of Covid.”

To be sure, there are multiple Chiefs players that are looking forward to this meeting, presumably including two-time NFL MVP quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Mahomes has never made an endorsement for any candidate in any election during his time as one of the most recognizable stars in the NFL. “I don’t want to pressure anyone to vote for a certain president. I want people to use their voice, whoever they believe in. I want them to do the research,” he told Time Magazine last year.

However, Mahomes has also defended teammates and loved ones who have come under fire for what some consider extreme right wing views.

When kicker Harrison Butker drew the ire of social media and celebrities following his speech at Benedictine College, Mahomes said of his teammate, “I judge him by the character he shows every day and that’s a good person. We’re not always going to agree. He said certain things I don’t agree with.”

Mahomes’ wife, Brittany, is much more vocal about her support of the current President. Leading up to the 2024 election, she openly endorsed Trump, leading him to praise her specifically after Taylor Swift endorsed Kamala Harris.

“Well I actually like Mrs. Mahomes much better,” he said. “If you want to know the truth. She’s a big Trump fan. I was not a Taylor Swift fan. It was only a matter of time. You couldn’t possibly endorse Biden.

“But she’s a very liberal person. She seems to always endorse a Democrat and she’ll probably pay a price for it in the marketplace. But I Like Brittany. Brittany is great. She’s the one I like much better than Taylor Swift. Wife of the great quarterback. I think she’s terrific.”

While Mahomes continues to maintain his silence on politics, it is clear that he has a big fan in the sitting President. And it is also clear that he will not apologize for his views, nor those of his family and friends.
