The Kansas City Chiefs are back-to-back Super Bowl Champions. Back in February, they became the first team to win consecutive Super Bowls since the 2003-04 New England Patriots that were led by future Hall of Famer Tom Brady. This year, they will look to become just the second NFL team ever to win three straight Championships (the Green Bay Packers have done it twice).
In order for that to happen, though, the Chiefs are going to need significant improvement from multiple positions. Rashee Rice, who was one of the team’s best wide receivers as a rookie last season, will miss several games due to suspension for his role in a car accident earlier this offseason.
In addition to questions surrounding who else besides Travis Kelce can be relied upon in the passing game, the Chiefs also have some serious concerns on their offensive line.
The Kansas City Chiefs Lost Out on Andre Dillard to the Green Bay Packers

The Chiefs are in the market for some offensive tackle depth after last season’s performance from the offensive line left much to be desired. While they won the Super Bowl, the Chiefs must think about the long-term health of Patrick Mahomes and find ways to best protect him.
Andre Dillard, a former first round pick, was not -resigned by the Tennessee Titans after he underperformed for the last few years. However, Dillard visited the Chiefs who were interested in signing him for depth and, possibly, hoping a change of scenery would help him improve.
However, Dillard recently signed with the Packers. Last season, Green Bay lost five-time All Pro David Bakhtiari to yet another knee injury after their first game of the season. Rasheed Walker, a seventh round pick in 2022, took over at left tackle and played well. However, Green Bay has several questions of their own on the offensive line and Dillard may have believed he had a better chance of playing there.
The Kansas City Chiefs Could Sign Former Green Bay Packers Left Tackle David Bakhtiari

After the season, the Packers made the tough decision to cut Bakhtiari, saving them nearly $21 million in salary cap space. This made the oft-injured left tackle a free agent, but he has not been signed as of yet.
Charles Goldman of A to Z Sports suggests that, since they lost out on Dillard, the Chiefs could look into signing Bakhtiari as a low-risk, high-reward player:
“Conversely, if they wanted to go a low-risk, high-reward route, they could take a swing with former Green Bay Packers LT David Bakhtiari. He’s managed to play in just 13 games since tearing his ACL late in the 2020 NFL season. If he’s fully healthy, he could prove to be a steal.”
Due to his injury history, there is no way that Bakhtiari would garner a huge contract on the open market. If he is able to pass a physical, he could be signed for league minimum and provide great depth and leadership to the team.
The big question, however, is will his knee hold up? Will it even be healthy enough this offseason for him to get signed?
If it does, the Chiefs should be one of the frontrunners to sign him.
