The Kansas City Chiefs have a mission to reclaim the throne they got ejected from last February by the Philadelphia Eagles.
There are plenty of holdovers from the 2024 NFL season for the Chiefs, and among those who will be returning to help the team win the Super Bowl in 2026 is a veteran pass rusher, who decided to stay in Kansas City by signing a one-year contract worth $4 million in the NFL free agency.
Omenihu feels like he has unfinished business with the Chiefs, as he only played six seasons in 2024 with the AFC West division franchise.
He started that campaign sidelined due to a torn ACL injury he suffered in the 2023 AFC Championship Game versus Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens. When he returned, he was able to see action for six games last season, recording a sack with six combined tackles and a forced fumble.
Pro Football Focus also gave him a decent 64.7 overall grade for his work in 2024.
Omenihu sounds off on his decision to stay with Kansas City Chiefs

Still with the Chiefs, Omenihu believes that he will be able to contribute sufficiently to the team’s stop unit that ranked sixth in 2024 with 20.5 points allowed per game.
“I had my career year in a shortened season that I had my first year with the Chiefs,” Omenihu shared while talking about his return to Kansas City (h/t John Dillon of Chiefs Wire). “So, obviously, it’s obvious that that – it equates to that the system is doing well, the coaching is doing well. I’ve improved as a player. I foresee that continuing, being this is my third year in the system, so I know the system now like the back of my hand.”
Omenihu, a fifth-round pick in the 2019 NFL draft by the Houston Texans, played his first two seasons in the pros with the Texans before suiting up for the San Francisco 49ers and then with the Chiefs.
