The Kansas City Chiefs have shown the world that they are not afraid of playing on the road. After defeating the Buffalo Bills last week, the Chiefs did it once again this week. They defeated the Baltimore Ravens 17-10 to clinch the AFC Championship and advance to another Super Bowl.
Kansas City Chiefs Controlled the Clock
In the first half, the Chiefs dominated time of possession. Kansas City had the ball for 20 minutes and 39 seconds out of a possible 30 minutes. They took advantage of this by claiming an early lead thanks to touchdowns by Travis Kelce and Isiah Pacheco. As a result, Kansas City had a 17-7 lead at halftime that they never relinquished.
Believe it or not, the Chiefs did not even score a point in the second half. However, a good defensive performance and a couple of crucial mistakes by the Ravens allowed the Chiefs to maintain the lead.
Baltimore Ravens’ Crucial Errors
The Ravens had two crucial errors in the second half that cost them any chance of winning the game. The first was a fumble at the 1-yard line by Zay Flowers. This took a likely touchdown off of the board for the Ravens and it ended up being the deficit in the game.
Another crucial error was made by QB Lamar Jackson. He threw an interception into triple coverage late in the game. Baltimore would have likely at least scored a field goal on that drive if they could have avoided a turnover. Now, they will have to sit on these mistakes in the offseason.
Kansas City Chiefs Advance to Another Super Bowl
This is the fourth time that Patrick Mahomes will appear in a Super Bowl for the Kansas City Chiefs in his young career. They await the winner of the NFC Championship. It will either be a rematch against the San Francisco 49ers, or it will be a true David vs. Goliath matchup with the Detroit Lions.
