The Kansas City Chiefs are heading to their fourth Super Bowl in five years this year after beating the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship. While the team looks to be playing their best football of the season, there have been some complications in the locker room recently regarding wide receiver Kadarius Toney. Toney recently claimed that the team lied about his injury status, to which the head coach responded quickly.
Andy Reid Responds To Rumors
The receiver went off on the Chiefs in an Instagram live video where he claimed that he was not hurt at all and that he does not “f**k with” the team. Reid was asked about this incident to which he responded that the injury was not made up and that Toney is going through “some things.”
Obviously, he’s been on the injury report so that part… that’s not made up. But he’s been working through some things and he’ll be back out there, and we’ll see how he does.
Kadarius Toney’s Struggles
Toney has been having a rough season in 2023, he has had many huge mistakes that have cost the team games after being one of the team’s best playmakers just a season ago. There has been no further report or comments made by the team and the players about the receiver’s situation, but it does not sound like he wants to be a part of the Chiefs organization anymore.
This year, Toney has only amounted to 169 receiving yards on 27 receptions with a touchdown and has not been a good option for quarterback Patrick Mahomes. He has been brutally criticized by players, fans, and analysts for his mistakes, including the amount of dropped passes he has this season.
Will The Kansas City Chiefs Let Toney Play?
It will be interesting to see if the receiver participates in the Super Bowl against the San Francisco 49ers, and if he does, if he will be able to redeem himself. At the moment, it does not look like the receiver will be joining the team anytime soon after his comments, which could be in the best interest of the Chiefs. Do you think Toney will come back and play in the Super Bowl, or will he sit out and eventually be off of the team shortly?
