Justin Jefferson is undeniably the most dynamic wide receiver in the NFL today. Since joining the league in 2020, Jefferson has made himself known in the football world. He was drafted 22nd overall by Minnesota and signed a 4 year, 13 million dollar fully guaranteed rookie contract.
Needless to say, he has exceeded the expectations of that contract and everyone is curious as to what the plans are for him and Minnesota going forward.
Former LSU Teammates Try to Lure Justin Jefferson From Minnesota Vikings
Jefferson had an amazing exit year coming out of LSU. He finished the 2019-2020 season with over 1500 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns while catching 111 balls from eventual Heisman Trophy winner Joe Burrow.
Burrow and Jefferson had great chemistry together during there time at LSU, along with Ja’Marr Chase, who ultimately teamed back up with Burrow after the Bengals drafted him with the 5th overall pick the following year. Ja”Marr recently posted a tweet that went viral with the thought that it was directed to bringing JJ to Cincinnati. It stated “this will be a krazy story to tell”.
So is there any truth to this? Or is this just something being made out of nothing.
A few days ago, former Bengal Tyler Eifert hinted that “Sources telling me Jefferson to Cincy is in motion”. It was said that with Tee Higgins requesting a trade out of Cincinnati, that he could be the focal point in a package involving draft picks to try and tempt the Vikings front office.
Obviously that was not the case and both Justin Jefferson and Higgins still remain on their respective teams.
But how much influence does Joey B have in the Bengals organization? You saw him lobby for Chase prior to the 2021 NFL Draft. Could he do the same this off-season? Is there a possible LSU reunion forming in southwest Ohio?
If the Bengals can some how pull off a trade that would bring Jefferson in, it would go down as one of the most iconic trades in the franchises history. Not to mention that the Bengals become the possible favorites to bring home the Lombardi Trophy in 2025.
Picturing an offense led by Joe Burrow and having arguably the top 2 wide receivers in football just seems unfair. They have also added an underrated TE in Mike Gesicki and replaced Joe Mixon with a back that is very capable of being a RB1 in Zach Moss.
If we really want to put the Tigers back together, it’s also worth noting the CEH (Clyde Edwards-Helaire) is currently still without a team. This is a stretch, I know. But it is fun to think about.
