The Cincinnati Bengals have certainly found one of the best teammates of all time in elite quarterback Joe Burrow. When he went down with a season ending wrist injury early in the season, he started going to defensive meetings to provide an offensive perspective to the defensive backs. Then he paid to have the family of his backup quarterback Jake Browning join his own in a luxury box at the stadium on game days. I mean, what won’t this guy do for the good of the team?
Cincinnati Bengals Quarterback Hosts Recruitment Dinner
Well in case you were wondering, the legendary teammate has done it again. On Thursday night, Burrow was seen at high end Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouse in Cincinnati, Ohio with free agents offensive tackle Mekhi Becton and defensive tackle Teair Tart. Burrow has been known to have important meetings with players at Jeff Ruby’s and appears to be making the final push to sign significant help in both the offensive and defensive trenches.
While there could possibly be some doubt as to the authenticity of the tweet, other people in the chat uploaded photographs showing the table at the restaurant. In the photograph, Becton is seen sitting down with the unmistakable likeness of Cincinnati offensive line coach Frank Pollack.
Becton has been an outstanding offensive tackle for the New York Jets when healthy but has had major struggles staying on the field. He would slide in and theoretically replace departing right tackle Jonah Williams after the latter signed with the Arizona Cardinals. Becton would provide a massive boost in the athleticism of the line.
While undersized, Tart has demonstrated a nasty streak that would make him a suitable replacement for outgoing nose tackle D.J. Reader. Tart had a falling out with the Tennessee Titans last year and bounced to their division rivals in Houston to finish out the season. This is his fourth season after coming into the league undrafted and he has certainly built a reputation for himself as a hard-nosed defensive plug.
This isn’t the first time that Burrow has closed a key free agent at Jeff Ruby’s. In 2022, Burrow took former free agent right tackle La’El Collins to the steakhouse the day before he signed a three-year contract with Cincinnati. While Patrick Mahomes may be the most talented quarterback to every play the game, Burrow continues to surprise the world by being one of the greatest leaders the NFL has ever seen.
