Madden 24 is a mere two months away from release. Who they choose for the cover athlete is always interesting. Gone are the days of fan votes and the choice is made by EA. According to a report, the Madden 24 cover athlete is set to be Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen.

Madden 24 Cover Athlete To Be Josh Allen

It isn’t hard to see the case for Allen as a cover athlete. He has been one of the faces of the league for the past couple of years. While there has been a lot of playoff heartbreak, his regular season numbers have been amazing. Allen has put the Bills in contention for the AFC and with the recent signing of Leonard Floyd, they clearly are going all-in. The choice is not without some controversy.

    Controversial Choice

Allen led the league in interceptions last year and did not make it to the AFC Championship Game. Players like Jalen Hurts, Joe Burrow, and Justin Jefferson would have been great choices, especially Hurts, but the people in charge of the Madden franchise have reportedly decided to go with Allen. Ultimately, who is on the cover is an inconsequential choice and isn’t always the best player. Peyton Hillis was on the cover of Madden 12 and he was by no means the best player. (It is worth noting that this was a fan vote but still). It isn’t clear how the choice is made but it seems that Allen will be the choice for this year.

The release of the Madden 24 video game will come with hype. It does every year. The cover athlete will always be a topic of discussion but ultimately means nothing in terms of the season. If anything, it gives the other players another chip on their shoulder which can help motivate certain players during the season.
