Tom Brady will be in the broadcast booth next season as an analyzer, but if John Cena has anything to say about it, Brady may also be a Hollywood actor. In an interview with ESPN, the WWE wrestler-turned-entertainer said that if he could have anyone as a co-star, it would be the 7X Super Bowl Champion.
“I sense that Tom [Brady] is a very creative guy…Not only an accomplished athlete, I sense maybe a buddy comedy on the horizon. So Tom, if you’re listenint, I’m available, and I take all calls, especially from Tom Brady.”
Tom Brady Isn’t a Stranger to Hollywood
Tom Brady has never been a significant featured actor in movies or TV shows, but he has certainly taken his talents to the big screen. He has been featured in films, including “Ted 2” and “Entourage” and a voiceover in the Simpsons. Brady has also been featured in various commercials, with his most famous being in a T-Mobile deal that featured him and Rob Gronkowski.
Unlike many other athletes who end up on TV commercials, Brady seems to have some talent and potential. If you’ve seen the Aflac commercials with Nick Saban, you know what I’m talking about with players/coaches who don’t have acting talent.
Finally, while married to model Gisele Bündchen, Brady found himself in the middle of the Hollywood scene, appearing in various shows and award competitions.
Tom Brady’s Contract With Fox May Complicate John Cena’s Plan
Starting this upcoming NFL season, Brady will be an NFL commentator for Fox Sports. Back in 2022, Brady agreed with Fox for a massive 10-year deal worth $375 million. That amount of money is unheard of in the broadcasting world, but there is only one Tom Brady, and Fox was willing to spend serious money to get him.
A typical commentator doesn’t have the same amount of stress or demand that the play-by-play announcers do, meaning that Brady likely won’t need to spend months preparing to learn all the different players and their playstyles leading up to the season. Instead, he can just watch the game and comment on what he sees happening.
Then again, he is also getting a ton of money and has mentioned multiple times that he feels a lot of pressure. Especially going into his first year, he will probably spend most of his free time between now and the start of the season perfecting and practicing his commentary style.
Could Brady and Cena Team Up?
Tom Brady may be a good actor, but he isn’t Tom Cruise, meaning there aren’t any huge Hollywood deals coming his way that will rival what he will be getting with Fox to be a commentator. That isn’t to say that he can’t team up with John Cena for some fun projects during the off-season, but it’s unlikely he will do anything that will make him commit any significant amount of time.
