New York Jets wide receiver Allen Lazard has made a habit this year of doing and saying all of the wrong things. After following his star quarterback Aaron Rodgers from the Green Bay Packers, to say this has been a disappointing season for Lazard would be overly generous. In 14 games this season, Lazard has only assembled 23 receptions for 311 receiving yards and a touchdown after signing a four year contract for forty-four million dollars with New York last offseason.
New York Receiver Allen Lazard Speaks Out About Coaching Problems
One of the most common but also worst things a player can do when they are underperforming is lashing out and putting the blame on someone else. On Tuesday evening, Lazard certainly spoke out in frustration and made his opinion known.
“They out-schemed us. Out efforted us.” Lazard said in a press conference.
#Jets WR Allen Lazard with maybe the most alarming quote on state of team, summing up the 30-0 loss to the #Dolphins.
“They out-schemed us, out-efforted us.”

There has clearly been a substantial amount of frustration late in the season but frankly the least responsible person is probably the elite New York Head Coach Robert Saleh. After losing his starting quarterback just minutes into the season, Saleh has managed to keep New York in the fight for a playoff spot up until just this past week or so.
Without a doubt, the truly guilty party for New York’s disappointing season has been all of the defected Packers personnel including Lazard and the epic failure of an offensive coordinator, Nathaniel Hackett. Hackett’s entire resume can be summed up by one statement: he and bizarre personality but NFL Legend Aaron Rodgers actually get along.
Hackett was recently the head coach for the Denver Broncos in what turned out to be one of the most embarrassing debuts as a head coach of all time. The Broncos offense was ultimately disastrous as Hackett was fired after just one season with the team. He was brought in to New York to ease the transition of the superstar quarterback but the offense has looked about as good as the Denver offense last season.
A lot of people have leveled the blame on struggling young quarterback Zach Wilson but the offense has been a complete nightmare all season. Although they brought in solid personnel, the offensive line hasn’t been able to block and an elite group of receivers haven’t been able to get open. Somewhat (not elite) included in that group is Lazard.
Lazard was a healthy scratch several games ago as his worth ethic is clearly not on par with a professional standard. Maybe next time he should focus on his performance on the field and should try to limit his explosive and divisive outbursts.
