The Jacksonville Jaguars decided to extend their star quarterback Trevor Lawrence by making him tied for being the highest-paid quarterback in the NFL.
Many fans are shocked at how much Lawrence received from the Jaguars while others think play at the level of Lawrence’s is something that can’t be passed up.
The details of the contract the Jacksonville Jaguars gave to Trevor Lawrence
The contract given to Lawrence by the Jaguars makes him tied with Cincinnati Bengals star quarterback Joe Burrow for the highest-paid quarterback in the NFL. Both Burrow and Lawrence are now making $55 million per year.
According to NFL insider Adam Schefter, Lawrence signed a five-year contract worth $275 million. The contract includes $200 million guaranteed and $142 million at signing.
Only five other quarterbacks in the NFL are paid more than $50 million a year. Three-time Super Bowl champion quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs Patrick Mahomes is paid just $45 million per year.

Many fans are shocked at the money the Jacksonville Jaguars shelled out for QB Trevor Lawrence
Lawrence, who is now being paid as much as Burrow, has not accomplished nearly as much as Burrow since being picked No. 1 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft.Burrow, who was also a No. 1 overall pick, took the Bengals to the Super Bowl and the AFC Championship game in consecutive years. The only concern with Burrow has been his ability to stay healthy.
Lawrence did lead the Jaguars to one of the most exciting playoff comeback wins in the history of the league against the Los Angeles Chargers and quarterback Justin Herbert, who is also earning more than $50 million a year.
In 2023, Lawrence and the Jaguars failed to make the playoffs as Houston Texans and quarterback C.J. Stroud took over the AFC South. After a disappointing recent season, many fans are looking at Lawrence’s numbers and questioning whether he is worth the money.
Trevor Lawrence’s career stats:
– 1x Pro Bowler
– 20-30 record
– 11,770 passing yards
– 58 touchdowns
– 39 interceptions
– 33 fumbles
– 85.0 rating
– 6 game winning drives
– 1-1 playoff recordNow tied as the highest paid QB in football. pic.twitter.com/p05xYYRrje

Despite a disappointing 2023 season, Lawrence’s comments about his work ethic in an ESPN article in the past could instill some confidence in Jaguars fans moving forward.
“It’s hard to explain that because I want people to know that I’m passionate about what I do and it’s really important to me, but … I don’t have this huge chip on my shoulder, that everyone’s out to get me and I’m trying to prove everybody wrong,” he told Sports Illustrated. “I just don’t have that. I can’t manufacture that. I don’t want to.”
“I have a lot of confidence in my work ethic, I love to grind and to chase my goals. You can ask anyone who has been in my life,” Lawrence tweeted. “That being said, I am secure in who I am, and what I believe.”
Fans took to social media to voice their opinion about the Jacksonville Jaguars’ signing of Trevor Lawrence
Many fans took to social media to express their feelings about Lawrence becoming one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the NFL.
Some think quarterback play at such a level is not something to be thrown aside so easily while others think Lawrence hasn’t done nearly enough to warrant the $55 million salary he will be receiving.
This isn’t a top tier QB resume. Idk what the Jags are smoking

Many are also intrigued about what Lawrence’s contract will mean for quarterbacks who have yet to be paid. Quarterbacks like Jordan Love of the Green Bay Packers, Brock Purdy of the San Francisco 49ers and Tua Tagovailoa of the Miami Dolphins will now be expecting much heftier paychecks.
