It seems that the Jacksonville Jaguars weren’t satisfied with just shutting down the Pittsburgh Steelers offense on October 29. On Monday, safety Andrew Wingard posted an Instagram story that read “These grown men crying about their tiny towels is bringing me so much joy,” accompanied by two laughing emojis. Wingard was one of the Jaguars that waved a Terrible Towel around after a turnover on Sunday.

This particular battle began earlier in the week when Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence innocently (and accurately) described a Terrible Towel as a “little yellow towel.” Despite the young gunslinger also heaping plenty of compliments Pittsburgh’s way, a lot of Steelers fans were in an uproar over Lawrence’s comments. Acrisue Field was appropriately hostile toward Jacksonville’s team all Sunday.
However, it didn’t phase the Jaguars at all, who left with a third straight win in trips to Pittsburgh. Lawrence went on to praise the fans after the game for the environment that they created. Jacksonville seemed to revel in the passion that Steelers fans directed toward them, from Lawrence’s admiration to Wingard’s amusement. What’s Next for the Jacksonville Jaguars
Sunday’s win brought the Jaguars to 6-2, the best record in the AFC South. If the playoffs began today, Jacksonville would be the AFC’s third seed. That’s not a bad way for this team to enter their well-earned Week 9 bye.
Looking ahead, the Jacksonville Jaguars will face the 49ers, Titans, and Texans in Weeks 10-12. Winning at least two of those games, particularly the latter pair against division rivals, should put Jacksonville in the AFC South driver’s seat down the stretch. With how well they’re playing, another playoff run appears imminent.
