The Jacksonville Jaguars have made a big splash as the team attempts to make things better after a brutal collapse last year that forced the team to miss the playoffs. After agreeing to a massive extension with quarterback Trevor Lawrence, the team made the decision to continue adding wide receiver talent for him in wide receiver Denzel Mims.
Denzel Mims was cut earlier this week by the Pittsburgh Steelers and did not find the field last season with the Cleveland Browns. However, the 59th selection in the 2020 draft has appeared in 30 games between 2020 and 2022 with the New York Jets. He has not been able to get that major stretch of games going as he has 42 receptions on 92 targets for 676 yards (16.1 yards per catch) but have failed to record a touchdown.
The wide receiver room for the Jacksonville Jaguars has been filled with names fans already know after losing Calvin Ridley this offseason. The team has Christian Kirk, Gabe Davis and rookie Brian Thomas Jr. expected to be the starting wide receivers but Denzel Mims can be used as a bench wide receiver if he makes the team with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
What should we expect out of Denzel Mims this season?

Despite not playing in an NFL game in 2023, Denzel Mims is going to be in an interesting spot this season. He finished with sub-200 yard seasons in 2021 and 2022 before being traded for a 2025 conditional sixth-round pick with the Detroit Lions in July 2023. This is going to be an interesting season but if he was unable to see the field with multiple teams and been cut, it is difficult to expect the Jacksonville Jaguars to activate him to a 53-man roster during the regular season.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are going to have a difficult time this season to win the AFC South as they are in the same division as the Houston Texans. According to DraftKings Sportsbook, the team is +130 to make the playoffs and +275 to win the AFC South. They have a difficult schedule and it will be interesting as teams are going to have to face a talented team that can do different things. Below is the team’s schedule for the 2024 season.
- Week 1: at Miami Dolphins
- Week 2: vs. Cleveland Browns
- Week 3: at Buffalo Bills
- Week 4: at Houston Texans
- Week 5: vs. Indianapolis Colts
- Week 6: at Chicago Bears (London)
- Week 7: vs. New England Patriots (London)
- Week 8: vs. Green Bay Packers
- Week 9: at Philadelphia Eagles
- Week 10: vs. Minnesota Vikings
- Week 11: at Detroit Lions
- Week 12: BYE
- Week 13: vs. Houston Texans
- Week 14: at Tennessee Titans
- Week 15: vs. New York Jets
- Week 16: at Las Vegas Raiders
- Week 17: vs. Tennessee Titans

This team has been able to improve but has the tools to win double-digit wins throughout the season. With another year of coach Doug Pederson instilling his system and it helps to create stability for the franchise. However, the playoffs may be a bit of a stretch but do not be surprised if they are a Wild Card team.
