Agnew injured his shoulder in his team’s Week 10 loss against the San Francisco 49ers. He has two games of at least four receptions this season. In a corresponding move, the Jaguars have released backup quarterback Nathan Rourke. The Ohio Bobcats star shined in college but never played in an NFL regular season game.
Jacksonville Jaguars WR/PR Jamal Agnew: All-Pro Specialist
Agnew, a fifth-round draft pick by the Detroit Lions in the 2017 NFL draft, played his college ball at San Diego. The five-foot-eleven, 190-pound wideout starred as a rookie, leading the league in punt return yards (447), punt return touchdowns (two), and yards per return (15.4). Agnew also had two receptions for 18 yards. The San Diego product spent the next three seasons in Detroit before signing a three-year, $14.25 million contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2021.
Agnew earned Pro Bowl honors in 2022, returning 25 punts for 205 yards. He posted a career season as a wide receiver last year, snagging 23 receptions for 187 yards and three touchdowns. Agnew has nine receptions for 90 yards in 2023.
Jacksonville Jaguars: Wide Receiver Depth Chart
Agnew could see immediate action at wide receiver with fellow wideout Christian Kirk on the mend. The Jacksonville Jaguars placed Kirk on the IR last week after he suffered a core injury in Week 13. The Jaguars leaned on the trio of Calvin Ridley, Zay Jones, and Parker Washington last Sunday. Ridley led the receiving core with four catches for 53 yards, while Jones caught just five of his 14 targets. Meanwhile, Washington, a rookie from Penn State, had two catches for 27 yards and a touchdown.
