Liberty football coach Huge Freeze has a well-documented past. Before he came to Liberty, Michael Oher’s coach in The Blind Side became head coach of the Ole Miss Rebels. Freeze coached at Ole Miss from 2012-2016 but was fired after it was discovered he used a university issued phone to call an escort service. Freeze lied about the phone calls, and a university investigation uncovered his lies. Liberty hired Freeze as their new head coach in December of 2018. Freeze is 26-11 in three years as the head coach of the Flames.

Chelsea Andrews is one of 22 women who sued Liberty University as part of a sexual assault lawsuit. Handler self-identified as ‘Jane Doe 7’ in the lawsuit. Ian McCaw (mentioned by Freeze) is the current athletic director at Liberty. McCaw has a sordid history of his own, he was at Baylor University when a rape scandal there engulfed the football program and school.
Andrews is not pleased.
Among the allegation in the lawsuit, school officials threatened to punish rape victims if they came forward with their allegations. Punishments were administered under the school’s ‘moral code’ and ranged from fines to expulsion.
Common Sense Isn’t
Logic says Hugh Freeze knows better. Logic also says don’t use your employer-issued cell phone to call hookers and Hugh Freeze failed that test. Hugh Freeze is a football coach with a tarnished past. Ian McCaw is an athletic director with a tarnished past. Chelsea Andrews is a Liberty alumnus. Common sense says Hugh Freeze shouldn’t message Andrews.
Neither Freeze nor McCaw should be messaging Andrews. Whether Freeze realizes it or not, he and McCaw are university representatives. Although Freeze believes he’s defending a friend, he’s acting inappropriately. Messaging someone consistently against their will is violating their boundaries. Andrews is a rape victim. Violating the boundaries of a rape victim is a horrible look. Violating the boundaries of a rape victim after all Freeze has been party to in the past is beyond unconscionable.
A lawyer needs to pull Freeze aside before he does more damage. Freeze is a disgraced coach attempting to redeem himself. Someone needs to take his phone away at night before he embarrass himself or the university any further.
