The Houston Texans had a remarkable turnaround under the leadership of DeMeco Ryans, going from a 3-13-1 record in 2022 to a 10-7 record in 2023 and making it to the Divisional Round in his first year as head coach.
The running game also had a solid turnaround. Houston had the 31st-ranked rushing offense in 2022 and the 22nd-ranked rushing offense in 2023.
Ryans would love to have their leading rusher back for another season.

DeMeco Ryans stated earlier today that he would love to have Devin Singletary back.
“Very pleased with Devin. I remember sitting in a free agent visit with Devin and his personality, his demeanor. It was a guy I knew I wanted to work with right away. Devin is made of the right stuff. He’s a hard worker, he’s a leader, he shows up every day in practice with a great attitude, and the guys around him feed off of that. Devin was a great guy. We’ll see what happens in free agency, but we would love to have Devin back just because of what he brought to our team. He was definitely a bright spot for us in the running back room.”

I would love to resign Devin but hope it wouldn’t cost us a Jacobs or Saquon. Hard to see us signing both and keeping Pierce too.

Singletary had an impressive 2023 season
Houston signed Singletary to a 1-year, $2,750,000 contract to bring depth to the running back room.
Injuries to Dameon Pierce allowed Singletary to take over as the starting running back for the remainder of the season. He had 898 yards on 216 carries (4 TDS) and 30 receptions on 38 targets for 193 yards during the regular season.
Singletary also had 88 yards on 22 carries (1 TD) and eight receptions on nine targets for 52 yards during the playoffs.
What is Singletary’s estimated annual value?
Spotrac estimates that he will have a yearly base salary of $4.3 million with his new contract, which would be a bargain for the Houston Texans if he re-signs.
